Passion for the ocean, a family affair in Zihuatanejo

Hello ocean lovers, We are Maude and Simeon, proud owners of Dive Zihua. We are a preeminent PADI Eco Centre with an atmosphere you would expect to find in a small dive operation. With over 40 years of combined experience, we put forward high safety standards with personalized guidance or instruction to enhance the enjoyment of your dives and confidence in your skills. After multiple years of thinking about owning her own shop, Maude came upon this little place in Zihuatanejo, Mexico. The possibilities and the charm of the area won her over and she got ownership in December 2017. It was a now or it will never happen decision at the time. Simeon joined officially in 2022 after a few years of frequent visits. We met in 2013, during our Open Water Specialty instructor course in Florida. Years later, we reconnected here in Zihuatanejo. Our love of scuba diving was in the air! Since then we have worked together to make Dive Zihua what it is today.

To provide you with the best experience we put a lot of effort into staying current in an industry that is changing constantly. Maintenance and service of either boat and rental equipment is a top priority. We want you to sit back, relax and enjoy. Don’t worry, be happy! We are the first dive centre in the state of Guerrero, only 5 on the Pacific coast of Mexico, to be part of Green Fins and receive the PADI Eco Centre certification. We focus on environmentally friendly alternatives to help ensure a future for the marine life we love to explore. We want to make a difference, this is why we have associated with ‘Habitat Marino’ a project monitoring sea turtles and Zankas reef a project put together by locals to help monitor coral reefs. We provide great help for scientific research, adding more data to monitoring studies.

Meet your crew!

Maude is a PADI Open Water scuba and Specialty instructor, Emergency First Response instructor and has a Bachelor’s degree in marine biology from UQAR. At the dive shop, Maude guides, teaches and is also in charge of booking, social media, guest experience and anything related to marine life like our whale watching tours and Green Fins commitment. Simeon is a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer, Emergency First Response instructor, a veteran from the U.S. Coast Guard, a commercial diver, technical diver and equipment technician specialist. Simeon, including guiding and teaching, is in charge of equipment and boat maintenance. Angel is our amazing captain. Your time on board is in great hands with this experienced ocean enthusiast. He is a PADI Divemaster and one of the leaders of ‘Habitat Marino’, the monitoring project we are part of. His marine ecology degree completes our team of knowledgeable professionals.
